A Fully Functional Polaris GENERAL 1000 Cargo Rack
We designed this RBO Expedition Rack™ to add more versatility to your Polaris GENERAL 1000 by providing a tailgate to keep your gear secure. You can padlock the tailgate to keep your possessions safe and secure. We also added a gas strut to hold the tailgate open and out of the way when you’re grabbing your gear or using your dump bed. The factory dump bed remains fully functional even with the rack installed – just remove your spare tire from the tailgate before dumping.
A UTV Upgrade Designed by Off-roading Experts
We’re a team of people who use these machines ourselves, so we understand the importance of tying down gear. We included numerous tie down locations throughout the bottom and sides of the upper tray. We also included more tie down locations along the bed railing for the ability to secure any cargo in the bed of the machine.
We make our Expedition Racks™ from 1.5” diameter steel tubing and give them a rugged, powder coated finish. This rack is a sleek and durable addition to your Polaris GENERAL guaranteed to enhance your off-roading experience.

Awesome piece of equipment. We added the Expedition Rack to our ’21 Polaris General 4 1000 DLX and have logged over 2,000 miles with it so far, including a 7-day 650 mile overlanding trip in the Black Hills National Forest, mainly on trails and forest roads. We were able to fit almost as much gear in our SxS with the rack on as we could in my Toyota Tundra’s truck bed – enough for two adults and two kids to make the trip and not have to stop for supplies constantly. We found out later we went over the recommended weight on the top shelf on our trip (by quite a bit – oops!), but there were no problems at all.
We carry our 27″ spare tire on the rear gate and can open and close the gate with the tire on no problem. We also carry two, 3-gallon Rotopax fuel tanks on the outside of the rack as well as a small shovel on a took holder inside the rear gate. I had planned on removing the rear gate for most of our riding but I have just left it on. We carry the fuel and spare tire everywhere now – it’s easy.
Installation was simple. The finish is tough as nails. It looks great on our machine. The chicks dig it (ok, I mean my wife).
Two minor things we’ve experienced: I think because the General’s bed is all plastic, with the rack on, the sides of our bed around the tailgate have spread just a little (maybe 1/2″ on each side) so the Polaris tailgate doesn’t always latch securely. I added a couple 1/4″ spacers/washers to the Polaris tailgate latch points on our machine and that took care of it – easy fix. If you’re really bombing over rough terrain, I would also recommend putting a padlock or safety/hitch pin through the latch just to doubly make sure the gate doesn’t pop open. Ours did once while riding – we rode over rough terrain, fully loaded for probably five miles with the gate swinging open and closed with our heavy 27″ spare tire on the back before we noticed. I would have thought that would have bent the hinges to hell or damaged the rack – but it was perfectly fine! Absolutely incredible!
Seriously, this rack has transformed our SxS from a day-riding toy into a legitimate overlanding machine. For camping, overlanding or anything else, this is a cool piece of equipment. I’d like to pick up another one sometime for my Ranger we use around our property. I also have my fingers crossed RBO will come out with a replacement roof or roof rack for the General next!!!

Ordered for my 2018 General. Installation was very easy, took about 2 hours. Now, in addition to increased hauling capacity, I can take the pups with me when I go out and about. Quality piece of equipment.

This rack is awesome worth every penny! You get what you pay for… installation was a pretty easy but need to adjust my rear gate to compensate for my 30” spare tire and I’m having a hard time doing that. Need to take more time to look into it but other then that this elevates the hauling capacity of ur general and makes ur general way more versatile! RBO products are awesome!

Well made piece of gear. Very solid. Easy to follow instructional video made install a breeze. Had a little trouble getting the latch to line up but a nylon washer made a perfect spacer to adjust it so it shuts easily. Perfect for holding your gear for a weekend camping trip or more.
